Dear steadfast Invincible followers and newcomers, prepare for an exhilarating voyage into the universe of one of the most celebrated animated series, Invincible. Sourced from the imaginative minds of Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, Invincible has become a luminary in the constellation of Prime Video’s offerings.

It follows the story of Mark Grayson, a teenager who inherits superpowers from his father, Omni-Man, the world’s greatest hero. However, Mark soon discovers that his dad is hiding a dark secret that will change his life forever.

Invincible Season 1 ended with a shocking and brutal finale leaving fans eager for more. Fortunately, Amazon has already renewed the show for two more seasons, so we won’t have to wait too long to see what happens next. But when will Invincible Season 2 be released? Who will be in the cast? What will the plot be? And where can you watch the trailer?

This article provides everything you need to know about Invincible Season 2, from its release date to future seasons. Read on to find out more.

    Release date

Invincible Season 2 now has an official release date November 3, 2023. The adult animated superhero series “Invincible” is returning for its second season on Prime Video. The first half of the eight-episode season premieres on November 3, with episodes releasing weekly. After a mid-season break, the second half will debut in early 2024. The show will be exclusively available on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories globally.

The news about the second season was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) panel, which also showcased a teaser trailer, an extended episode clip, and character assets. Robert Kirkman, the executive producer and co-creator, announced a standalone screening of “Atom Eve.” This origin episode will launch worldwide on Prime Video on July 21 and will also be shown at SDCC.

The first teaser trailer for Invincible season 2 was released in January 2023, two days before the comic series’ 20th anniversary. It shows Mark and Allen the Alien having a meta-conversation about the long wait for the new season at a Burger Mart diner. You can watch it below:

The teaser also confirms that Invincible Season 2 will have eight episodes, just like Season 1. Each episode will be around 45 minutes long.

You might be wondering why it took so long for Invincible Season 2 to be produced. Well, according to showrunner Simon Racioppa, who spoke to TechRadar in March 2022, the Invincible crew has been working hard on season 2 for a long time. He explained that animation is a complex and time-consuming process that requires a lot of work from different departments.

So, while we might be impatient for Invincible Season 2 to come out, we can appreciate the effort and dedication that go into making such a high-quality show.

    Cast

Most of the main cast members from season 1 are expected to return for season 2. Here are some of them and their roles:

    • Steven Yeun as Mark Grayson/Invincible: The protagonist of the show, a young superhero who learns the truth about his father and his heritage
    • J.K. Simmons as Nolan Grayson/Omni-Man: Mark’s father, a powerful alien who works as a superhero on Earth but has ulterior motives
    • Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson: Mark’s mother and Nolan’s wife, who struggles to cope with her husband’s betrayal and her son’s destiny
    • Zazie Beetz as Amber Bennett: Mark’s girlfriend, who knows his secret identity and supports him despite their relationship issues
    • Gillian Jacobs as Samantha Eve Wilkins/Atom Eve: Mark’s friend and fellow superhero who can manipulate matter at a molecular level
    • Andrew Rannells plays William Clockwell: Mark’s best friend and confidant, who is openly gay and dating a superhero.
    • Walton Goggins as Cecil Stedman: The director of the Global Defence Agency (GDA), who oversees the superhero activities and knows more than he lets on
    • Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien: A friendly alien who works as an intergalactic evaluator and becomes Mark’s ally

There are also some reports of new cast members joining the show for season 2. Here are some of them and their roles:

    • Mahershala Ali as Titan: A super-strong criminal who works for a crime lord but has a family to protect
    • Zachary Quinto as Robot: A mysterious genius who leads the Teen Team, a group of young superheroes
    • Jason Mantzoukas as Rex Splode: A cocky superhero who can make objects explode and is Atom Eve’s ex-boyfriend

Of course, there are many more characters and voice actors in Invincible Season 2, but these are some of the most notable and surprising ones. You can check out the full cast list on IMDb.

    Plot

Invincible season 2 will continue the story of Mark Grayson as he deals with the aftermath of his father’s departure from Earth. He will also face new threats and challenges from various villains, such as Thragg, the Flaxan Empire, and the Mauler Twins.

Thragg is a Viltrumite warlord who is Omni-Man’s superior and wants to conquer Earth. He is one of the most powerful and ruthless enemies that Mark will encounter in season 2.

The Flaxan Empire is an alien race that invades Earth multiple times in season 1. They have advanced technology but age rapidly in the Earth’s atmosphere. They will return in season 2 with a new leader and a new plan.

The Mauler Twins are a pair of identical clones who are brilliant scientists and criminals. They have a rivalry with Robot and often try to create their own army of clones.

Mark will also meet new allies and friends in season 2, such as Titan, Robot, and Rex Splode.

Titan is a super-strong criminal who works for Machine Head, a crime lord who controls most of the underworld in Chicago. He has a wife and daughter, whom he loves dearly and wants to protect from his boss. He will ask Mark for help overthrowing Machine Head in season 2.

Robot is a mysterious genius who leads the Teen Team, a group of young superheroes that includes Atom Eve, Rex Splode, Dupli-Kate, and Monster Girl. He has a secret identity and a hidden agenda that will be revealed in season 2.

Rex Splode is a cocky superhero who can make objects explode by touching them. He is Atom Eve’s ex-boyfriend, and he cheated on her with Dupli-Kate. He will join Mark’s team in season 2 after leaving the Teen Team.

The showrunner, Simon Racioppa, has teased that season 2 will have a large or small focus on another big villain from the comics, but he didn’t reveal who it is. He also said that season 2 will not follow a specific arc from the comics but rather adapt and remix different elements to create a unique story.

We’re not really following any one arc, he told TechRadar. We’re kind of taking bits from different arcs throughout [the comics]… We’re kind of doing our own thing.

    Trailer

The trailer for Invincible Season 2 shows us what to expect from the new episodes. It sets up the tone and mood of season 2 as darker and more intense than season 1.

The trailer features key scenes and moments from season 2 that hint at what will happen in the story and how it will affect the characters.

    Some of these scenes include:

    • Mark confronts his father in space.
    • Thragg arrives on Earth with his army.
    • The Flaxan Empire launching another invasion.
    • The Mauler Twins escaping from prison.
    • Titan asking Mark for help.
    • Robot revealing his secret identity
    • Rex Splode joining Mark’s team.
    • Mark fighting various enemies.
    • Debbie grieving over Nolan.
    • Allen warning Mark about an impending threat.

The trailer might also be hiding or teasing some things for season 2 that are not obvious at first glance.

    Some of these things include:

    • The appearance of Battle Beast, a savage alien warrior who works for Thragg
    • The origin of Omni-Man’s moustache
    • The fate of Immortal, a superhero who can regenerate from any injury
    • The role of Darkwing II, a new superhero who replaces Darkwing after his death
    • The identity of Conquest, another Viltrumite warlord who is Thragg’s rival

    Future seasons

Invincible Season 3 has already been confirmed by Amazon. The show was renewed for two more seasons in April 2021, just a day before the season 1 finale aired.

The showrunner, Simon Racioppa, has confirmed that season 3 is being developed alongside season 2. He also said that there will be a smaller gap between their release dates than between seasons 1 and 2.

We’re working hard on both seasons right now, he told TechRadar. We’re hoping that there will be a smaller gap between seasons 2 and 3 than there was between seasons 1 and 2.

He also denied the rumours that season 4 had been secretly greenlit by Amazon. He explained that the show is not guaranteed to have more seasons beyond season 3 and that it depends on viewership and feedback.

We haven’t been picked up for season 4 yet, he said. We’re hopeful that we will be, but we don’t know for sure. It’s really up to the fans and how they react to seasons 2 and 3.

He added that he has a plan for ending the show if it gets cancelled after season 3, but hopes it won’t come to that.

We have an idea of how we would end it if we had to end it in season 3, he said. But we don’t want to do that. We want to keep going as long as we can.

    Conclusion

Invincible Season 2 is one of the most anticipated shows of 2023. It will continue the story of Mark Grayson and his superhero journey as he faces new enemies, allies, and challenges. It will also adapt and remix some of the best arcs from the comics while adding its own twists and surprises.

We can’t wait to see what Invincible Season 2 has in store.

If you haven’t watched Invincible, you can catch up on Prime Video before season 2 arrives.
