Ukrainian rock giants Okean Elzy (whose name translates as Elza’s Ocean) take a bold step forward with their latest single, Voices Are Rising, marking their first foray into English-language songwriting.

This song is a potent declaration of the band’s versatility and unwavering spirit.

The track opens with a gentle facade, soft verses quickly giving way to a chorus that explodes with anthemic urgency.

It’s a soundscape that mirrors the current global climate – a world teetering between despair and a desperate plea for change.

Frontman Svyatoslav Vakarchuk isn’t holding back here. His vocals are a passionate force, soaring effortlessly over the pulsating rhythm section and shimmering guitar riffs.

Vakarchuk isn’t just singing; he’s urging listeners to find their inner strength, to raise their voices against injustice.

The lyrics themselves are poetry in motion, painted with vivid imagery that captures the universal yearning for peace and freedom.

Vakarchuk himself says of the song, “‘Voices Are Rising’ is a song about energy. Everyone has an enormous amount of energy inside. The challenge is to be able to use this energy for the benefit of good things. It is an important skill I like to use every time I face difficulties. It is a very necessary song for me and millions of people in these turbulent times.”

The accompanying music video matches the song’s intensity perfectly. Shot in a vibrant, dynamic style, it shows an electrifying performance of the band.

In Voices Are Rising, Okean Elzy has crafted a timely anthem that captures the spirit of a nation and anyone who wants to fight for what they believe in.

Okean Elzy Voices Are Rising Lyrics

    Куплет 1
    Too many thoughts
    Too many words
    Stuck in my head
    Nothing is easy
    Not enough time
    Nothing inside
    Painted in black
    Losing the feeling

    Передприспів
And the water drowns me out
But the silence breaks the sound

    Приспів
    Voices are rising
Just let it out right now
    Tears that you’re hiding
Just let ‘em all fall down
And I’ll sing till my heart makes a sound
And I’ll sing till my heart’s breaking out
    Voices are rising

    Куплет 2
    Give me a sign
    Throw me a line
    Open the door
    I need to be there
    I wanna know
    I wanna feel
    Open my heart
    Just let me in now

    Передприспів
And the water drowns me out
But the silence screams so loud

    Приспів
    Voices are rising
Just let it out right now
    Tears that you’re hiding
Just let ‘em all fall down
And I’ll sing till my heart makes a sound
And I’ll sing till my heart’s breaking out
    Voices are rising
    Rising

    Аутро
And I’ll sing till my heart makes a sound
And I’ll sing till my heart’s breaking out
And I’ll sing till my heart makes a sound
And I’ll sing till my heart’s breaking out
And I’ll sing till my heart’s breaking out
