Amsterdam’s soul-pop artist Noa Lauryn conjures up visions of dimly lit jazz clubs where old souls gather with her latest single Layers of Time, vibrating with purpose and quiet power.

The track conjures a smoky jazz lounge vibe, where Felix Hien’s production wraps around your consciousness like velvet drapes.

Piano keys tiptoe through the mix with a deliberate patience, while drums sketch out a groove that would make you move.

Beneath this serenading soundscape lurks something deeper – a story of inherited trauma and the courage to break free.

“This is about becoming your own person,” Lauryn explains, following a year-long burnout that forced her to examine the ghostly fingerprints of family patterns on her psyche.

Her vocals flow soulfully through confessional verses, each line carrying the weight of generations.

The hook settles into your bones with the kind of earworm quality that validates those 6 million streams she’s already racked up in the Netherlands.

The danceable undercurrent transforms generational healing into something you can move to.

Jazzy chord progressions keep the mood buoyant even as Lauryn excavates heavy themes.

This isn’t trauma-dumping set to music – it’s processing through groove.

The track hints at an exciting trajectory for her upcoming EP Always On Time (due April 2025).

Noa Lauryn Layers Of Time Lyrics

    I look in the mirror
    Seeing dreams of gold
    10 years old
    Thinking I could fly

    It’s all familiar
    But the blood seeps down
    It will come around
From underneath the layers of time

    It goes unnoticed,
    Barely felt
    out of focus
Like a black cat in the street at night
    Like a devil in disguise

    It settles slowly
    Unaware we are hosting
    In our minds
    Lives gone by, like parasites
Now they’re living on in mine

    I look in the mirror
    Seeing dreams of gold
    10 years old
    Thinking I could fly

    It’s all familiar
    But the blood seeps down
    It will come around
From underneath the layers of time

    Shed it like a snake
    And write a new story
    Leaving scars behind oh
    That were never mine

    Imma rewrite, break the cycle
This is my life, letting theirs go
    Listen very closely
There’s a blood line changing course

    I look in the mirror
    Seeing dreams of gold
    10 years old
    Thinking I could fly

    It’s all familiar
    But the blood seeps down
    It will come around
From underneath the layers of time

    Wow
    Layers of time
    (repeat)
