Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing has already conquered the literary world, and now it’s preparing for its next frontier: television.

Amazon MGM Studios, alongside Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society, is adapting the hit novel into a series that promises to bring the world of Basgiath War College to life.

Unlike previous coverage that focused on the book’s runaway success, this piece dives into everything you need to know about the TV adaptation.

Who’s Behind the Fourth Wing TV Series?

Amazon MGM Studios won the rights to Fourth Wing, with Outlier Society attached to produce.

Showrunner duties have gone to Breaking Bad and Anne with an E writer Moira Walley-Beckett, signalling a strong narrative direction.

Yarros has confirmed she’s involved in ensuring the adaptation remains true to the series while expanding on its world-building.

    What’s Fourth Wing About?

The series will follow Violet Sorrengail, a young woman forced into the brutal world of Basgiath War College, where aspiring dragon riders train under the mantra graduate or die.

Alongside Violet are characters like Xaden Riorson, whose presence complicates her survival, and Dain Aetos, her childhood friend turned competitor.

    The Cast: Who’s Playing Who?

Casting remains a mystery, but Yarros has insisted that Xaden Riorson will be portrayed by a person of colour.

Fan speculation has run wild, with names like Heartbreak High’s Josh Heuston and Shadowhunters’ Matthew Daddario thrown into the mix.

For Violet, actresses like Danielle Rose Russell and Mackenzie Foy have been frequently mentioned in fan discussions.

    When Will Fourth Wing Premiere?

Prime Video has yet to confirm a release date, but development appears to be progressing swiftly.

Given the scale of production, a 2026 premiere seems likely, though it could arrive sooner if filming moves quickly.

How Faithful Will the Series Be to the Books?

While adaptations often make changes, Yarros has assured fans that the major plot points will remain intact.

With a planned five-book arc, Amazon seems to be positioning Fourth Wing as a long-term franchise.

What’s Next for The Empyrean Universe?

Beyond the TV adaptation, the Fourth Wing universe continues to grow. Onyx Storm, the third book, broke sales records upon release, and Yarros has confirmed at least two more books are in the pipeline.

If the show finds success, each novel could receive its own season, making Fourth Wing a major player in the fantasy adaptation space.

As we wait for casting announcements and production updates, one thing is certain—Basgiath War College is about to become a household name, and dragons are ready to take centre stage.
