Luxury, secrets, and satire return in The White Lotus Season 3, where paradise is never as perfect as it seems.

HBO’s Emmy-winning series heads to Thailand, where a new cast of guests and staff navigate the resort’s lavish setting—until tensions rise and dark secrets surface. Here’s what to expect from the latest installment.

When Does The White Lotus Season 3 Premiere?

The White Lotus Season 3 premiered on February 16, 2025, at 9 p.m. EST/PST on HBO, with new episodes streaming weekly on Max. The season follows an eight-episode schedule, with the finale airing on April 6, 2025.

Unlike previous seasons set in Hawaii and Sicily, this season embraces Thailand’s cultural backdrop, adding a new layer of storytelling as the series explores themes of karma, power, and self-destruction.

Returning from Season 1 is Natasha Rothwell as Belinda Lindsey, the spa manager last seen with crushed entrepreneurial dreams.

“When [creator] Mike White was finishing up season two, he asked to grab dinner with me. I thought nothing of it,” Rothwell told The Hollywood Reporter of her return.

“But he was already thinking about season three and wanting to explore her more. I told him I’d follow him anywhere, and I meant it.”

    The Ratliff Family

    • Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff – A wealthy businessman trying to keep his family together while navigating an undisclosed work-related crisis.
    • Parker Posey as Victoria Ratliff – The family matriarch who embraces the lavish lifestyle but keeps a watchful eye on her children.
    • Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff – The eldest son who works for his father’s company but struggles with expectations.
    • Sarah Catherine Hook as Piper Ratliff – A college senior and religious studies major questioning her faith.
    • Sam Nivola as Lochlan Ratliff – The youngest, still figuring out his place in the world.

    • Carrie Coon as Laurie, Michelle Monaghan as Jaclyn, and Leslie Bibb as Kate – Longtime friends on a girls’ trip filled with unresolved tensions.
    • Walton Goggins as Rick Hatchett – A rugged man with a shadowy past, traveling with his free-spirited girlfriend Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood). Speaking in interview about his character, Goggins said, “Even though your name is like blazed across it, you still feel like, ‘I don’t want this, I don’t want the responsibility of this.’” He described Rick’s arc as a slow burn, teasing, “If you stick with this guy, there’s a big lesson for all of us.”
    • BLACKPINK’s Lisa (Lalisa Manobal) as Mook – A health mentor at the resort who becomes entangled in the guests’ problems.
    • Lek Patravadi as Sritala – One of the resort’s visionary owners, deeply invested in wellness and spirituality. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, praised the setting, saying, “The kingdom’s exotic natural beauty, rich historical sites, and diverse landscapes are the perfect settings to share our fascinating culture, fantastic cuisine, top-notch wellness and luxury offerings.”
    • Tayme Thapthimthong as Gaitok – A no-nonsense security guard who keeps the peace.
    • Natasha Rothwell reprises her Season 1 role as Belinda Lindsey, a spa manager caught between ambition and loyalty.
    • Jon Gries as Greg Hunt, Tanya’s estranged husband from Season 2, adding another connection to past storylines.

The cast of The White Lotus continues to blend established stars with fresh talent, ensuring another captivating season.

What’s the Plot of The White Lotus Season 3?

The new season centres on a high-end wellness retreat in Thailand, where a carefully curated guest list arrives expecting peace and transformation—but hidden motives and long-buried tensions bring anything but serenity.

    Key storylines include:

    • Timothy Ratliff’s financial empire unraveling, with a journalist digging into his past.
    • Laurie’s divorce battle, bringing unresolved conflicts into her group’s girls’ trip.
    • Rick Hatchett’s concealed identity, which may connect to a past crime.
    • Belinda’s return to the White Lotus, testing her ambitions and old wounds.

Mike White, the show’s creator, has hinted at themes of spirituality and mortality, with characters confronting karma in unexpected ways.

Where Was The White Lotus Season 3 Filmed?

Production took place across Thailand, with Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui serving as primary locations. The Four Seasons Koh Samui doubles as the White Lotus resort.

The Thai government collaborated with HBO to facilitate filming, seeing it as an opportunity to showcase the country’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage.

What’s the Theme for The White Lotus Season 3?

Mike White previously hinted that while Season 1 explored wealth and Season 2 examined sex, Season 3 takes a “satirical and funny look at death and Eastern spirituality.”

The trailer teases cryptic dialogue about people coming to Thailand to either escape something—or someone.

“They’re all in some kind of hurt,” White said of this season’s guests. “Like, they’re all dead, but they don’t know it.”

He also described this season as “much, much darker” than the previous ones, adding, “I do feel like the other seasons were a rehearsal for this one.”

Will There Be a White Lotus Season 4?

Yes. Even before Season 3’s premiere, HBO renewed The White Lotus for a fourth season, though details remain under wraps.

“While we were in Thailand, Mike White pitched us on his concept for season four,” said Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content.

White has hinted that he envisions The White Lotus running for multiple seasons, possibly up to six, with a future “all-star season” pulling from past casts.
