Berlin-based singer-songwriter Morea brings quiet magnitude to Year by Year, an alt-pop slow-burn that wears its nostalgia like a soft coat in October.

Her soft vocals drift with delicate assurance, moving gracefully across mellow piano chords, hushed percussion, and an ambient electronic backdrop that lingers like breath on glass.

“Leaves in October / Bodies getting older,” she sings, her voice tracing the bittersweet blur of time and change.

The soundscape is lush but never heavy — a tender blend of indie-folk warmth and neo-soul clarity that leaves space for stillness.

“You can’t take this away from me / I think I’ve set myself free,” she reflects, letting the line glide across shimmering keys.

The track circles, floats, deepens — becoming more about presence than escape.

As the piano fades, you’re left with a quiet ache and the realisation that this is a song meant to be felt, not solved.

If you haven’t already, take a moment to revisit Morea’s Revival Song — another thoughtful release we covered that radiates the same emotional grace and artistic confidence. Read the review and hear how her journey began.

Year by Year Lyrics by Morea

    The evening shadows
    Are rising across my window
    The summer is over
    I didn’t savor
    Year by year
    Year by year

    As the wind gets colder
The day my father turns one year older
Knowing I can’t stop the time

    And baby believe me
    I’ve never minded the wrinkles
But I want to live while I create them
I wanna live, I wanna live
And oh the increasing distance of my ideas and reality becomes undeniable
I’ve never wanted to grow up
    Year by year
    Year by year

But when the wind gets colder
The day my father turns one year older
Knowing I can’t change the past
But when the wind gets colder
The day my father turns one year older
Knowing I can’t change the past

    Leaves in October
    Bodies getting older
    Strength fades
    Deeper and deeper
    Frown lines
    Deeper and deeper
    I fall
    Deeper and deeper I fall
    I fall I fall
Deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper I fall”
