On Jealous, Amsterdam-based, Sudanese-raised R&B singer-songwriter Gaidaa lets discomfort take the lead. Her voice moves like a bruise in slow bloom—soft but never fragile.

The repeated guitar loops are soaked in reverb, creating a meditative pulse that’s both hypnotic and suffocating.

“Jealous of the world / And all the beautiful girls,” she confesses, her delivery shifting from fluid to fractured, as if self-control is wearing thin by design.

Pulled from her EP YARN, Gaidaa calls the project “an emotional odyssey” built on years of unlearning and healing.

That context echoes loudest here, where jealousy isn’t petty—it’s existential.

Lines like “Feelin’ I’m afraid of / Feedin’ I’m a failure” don’t land like poetry, they feel overheard—like a looped thought she’s trying to quiet with melody.

Her cadence tugs against the beat with intention, especially in the latter half when the vocals start to blur into pleading.

It’s understated, but it hits. The production never overreaches. It stays narrow, warm, and claustrophobic—matching the song’s interior tension perfectly.

    Gaidaa Jealous Lyrics

    I don’t wanna be there
    Bitter off sweeter
Life will give you all the things that you deserve
    But I don’t know what I’m worth
    Feelin’ I’m afraid of
    Feedin’ I’m a failure
No one ever knew but I looked at her
    I looked and hurt

    Open my phone
    Oh you a grown up
    And what about me?
    There’s nothing to see now
    Our journey’s alone
Got nothing to show out fear
    The yearning unfolds
Enough left to grow out here

    I’m jealous of the way
You done put me to shame
    Jealous of the world
    And all the beautiful girls
    Jealous of the way
And there’s no one to blame
    I’m jealous of world
    I’m jealous of the girl

    You been right
    You been wrong now
    You been wrong bout
    You alone, doubt
    You been right
    You been wrong now

    You been right
    You been wrong now
    You been wrong bout
    You belong, doubt
    You been right
    You been wrong now

Write on me, write on me ah
Don’t know but you been spiting me, spite on me nah
No I don’t wanna fight in me, fight on me oh I
Don’t wanna hide on me, hide on me no more
Bout to ring the alarm in
Bout to bring me a warning
I been scared and I’m falling

    I’m Jealous of the way
You done put me to shame
    Jealous of the world
    And all the beautiful girls
    Jealous of the way
You don’t know who to blame
    I’m jealous of world
    I’m jealous of the girl

    You been right
    You been wrong now
    You been wrong bout
    You alone, doubt
    You been right
    You been wrong now

    You been right
    You been wrong now
    You been wrong bout
    You belong, doubt
    You been right
    You been wrong now
    I
