Quaglino’s is hosting an exclusive event this Mother’s Day 31st March with an exquisite three-course evening menu and a one-off live performance from the supremely talented singer-songwriter Berget Lewis.

From The Netherlands, Berget has had a varied career performing all over Europe and starring as ‘Effie White’ in the long-running musical ‘Dreamgirls’. She has toured in Holland’s major venues and clubs and takes her show to theaters across the country. She is also part of ‘The Ladies of Soul’ with three other musical friends (Glennis Grace, Candy Dulfer, and Edsilia Rombley) and has brought the house down in the huge capacity Amsterdam Ziggo Dome.

In 2016 Berget was invited to perform at Java Jazz in Indonesia with multiple Grammy award-winner David Foster who has produced and arranged songs for megastars Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Natalie Cole and Mary J. Blige.

Berget also participated in the X Factor UK in 2017 and made a huge impression with her rendition of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’.

Now this Sunday 31st March, Berget Lewis will be delighting viewers with an exclusive Mother’s Day performance at the iconic London venue, Quaglino’s. We caught up with her to find out more about her show.

What can viewers expect from your upcoming event at Quaglino’s on Mother’s Day?
They can expect beautiful soul music from the 80/90s, artists like Chaka Khan and Tina Turner.

Walk me through the creative process when writing music
It depends on what kind of vibe I am in. Most of the time it starts with a melody line and then I’ll find the lyrics.
I love to write my songs with guitar.

    What songs best describe you?
“Living My Life Like It’s Golden” by Jill Scott and ” Every Woman” by Chaka Khan

What inspired you to get into the music industry?
My father and my uncles are musicians and my mother used to sing in church.
Then I started to sing in the same church choir when I was around 16 years old.
I wanted to continue to sing and started to sing backing vocals for different artists.

Before I knew I was the most well-known backing vocalist in the The Netherlands.

That’s how I got into the music industry and singers like Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin inspired me a lot.

What kind of music did you listen to growing up?
We listened to Motown, Gospel and Stevie Wonder Jackson 5, Earth Wind And Fire and many more soul artists.

    Favourite song to perform?
I have so many 🙂 “Through The Fire” by Chaka Khan.

What are the challenges that you have faced in the music industry?
There will always be challenges to many to name, but just stay focused and always stay true to your self.

And what do you enjoy most about being in music?
To make people happy that’s what makes me happy!

Any memorable venues that you have performed in?
Yes in Amsterdam a venue Called Ziggodome you should check it out!

Is there anyone you would love to work with?
I would love to work with UK ‘s finest miss Mica Paris!

When you’re not performing, how do you wind down?
Spending time with my family and friends I work hard to play harder 🙂

Tell me something about yourself that no one knows
Many people don’t know that I have a crushed ice addiction:))

What’s the one thing you couldn’t live without?
My families and friends and music!

What is the best advice someone has ever given you?
Miss Oletta Adam’s gave me the best advice…she said to never give up it won’t be easy sometimes but just enjoy the ride while it lasts and don’t take it too seriously..life is short.

    What’s next for Berget Lewis?
Just continue to perform and what I do best! I love my life…..

Book this exclusive Mother’s Day event at Quaglino’s.
