Another Simple Favor (2025), directed by Paul Feig, reunites Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively for a sequel drenched in outrageous plot twists, luxurious fashion, and the picturesque backdrop of Capri.

This follow-up to the cult-hit A Simple Favor embraces its campy roots even more fervently, offering a concoction of dark comedy, flamboyant style, and murder mystery intrigue.

Anna Kendrick returns as Stephanie Smothers, whose journey from mommy vlogger to bestselling true crime author lands her face-to-face with Emily Nelson (Blake Lively), freshly sprung from prison.

This time around, Emily’s newfound freedom comes courtesy of her lavish engagement to Dante Versano (Michele Morrone), a wealthy heir entangled with Italian mob drama.

Kendrick’s anxious, clever energy pairs perfectly with Lively’s icy charm, a dynamic that critics repeatedly highlight as the franchise’s greatest strength.

Returning cast members from the original include Henry Golding as Sean Townsend, Andrew Rannells as Darren, and Bashir Salahuddin as Detective Summerville, with new faces including Elizabeth Perkins, Allison Janney, and Alex Newell.

Set amidst the glam of an extravagant wedding on Capri, Another Simple Favor rapidly spirals into absurdity, its narrative structure unapologetically ludicrous yet compellingly watchable.

The film abandons any pretense of seriousness, plunging viewers into a whirlwind of amusement underscored by lush costume design and breathtaking scenery.

Add in costume design worthy of its own award, and every scene pops with visual flair.

The film premiered at SXSW before launching on Prime Video, where it stirred a wave of fan engagement.

While Rotten Tomatoes reports a mixed 64% approval rating, the divided critical response hasn’t dulled the enthusiasm of audiences eager for more dark comedy and magnetic performances.

The production itself has an interesting backstory: after the original film unexpectedly found huge success on streaming platforms during the pandemic, Amazon MGM Studios and Lionsgate fast-tracked the sequel, knowing the fanbase was hungry for more.

And more may well be coming. Paul Feig has openly teased ideas for future instalments, hinting that the wild saga of Stephanie and Emily isn’t over yet.

With a confident mix of satire, style, and sheer entertainment, Another Simple Favor proves it isn’t just riding on the coattails of its predecessor — it’s striding boldly into its own chaotic spotlight.

Ultimately, this sequel delivers on its promises: fashion-fueled mystery, razor-sharp humour, and the kind of deadly stakes that make for a deliciously entertaining watch.
