Artemas, the RIAA Platinum-certified UK artist, proves once again why he’s a force in the alt-grunge scene with his latest single, how could u love somebody like me? released on October 9, 2024.

This track not only highlights Artemas’ artistic evolution but also solidifies his status as one of the most captivating voices in today’s alternative music landscape.

The moment you hit play, how could u love somebody like me? immerses you in the moody, atmospheric soundscape that has become Artemas’ hallmark.

A collaboration between Artemas and Daintree, the production masterfully builds tension.

Crisp, sharp beats play off swirling, ethereal synths, creating a sonic environment that unsettles and entices in equal measure.

The lyrics delve deeper into his psyche than ever before. His words strike a delicate balance between brutal honesty and poetic ambiguity.

The chorus poses a central question that hits like a sucker punch to the gut: “How could you love somebody like me?” Artemas delivers this line with a breathy, almost fragile vocal that amplifies its emotional impact.

This marks a significant departure from the more straightforward narratives of his earlier hits, like i like the way you kiss me,  showcasing an artist unafraid to explore the murkier depths of self-doubt and introspection.

When compared to his breakout mixtape, Yustyna, which amassed over 1.3 billion streams and debuted at #4 on the Global Spotify Chart, His new single how could u love somebody like me? feels like a natural next step.

While Yustyna explored intimate relationship moments, this new single examines what comes after: the questioning, the insecurity, the conflicting desires to seek love while feeling undeserving of it.

Artemas impresses with his ability to maintain his signature darkwave alt-pop sound while pushing into uncharted territory.

Fans of The Weeknd, EKKSTACY, or The Neighbourhood will recognise familiar elements, but Artemas infuses the genre with his own unique perspective.

He blends gritty authenticity with polished production in a way that’s distinctly his own.

The timing of how could u love somebody like me? couldn’t be better as Artemas kicks off his sold-out 35-date global headline tour.

One can easily picture packed stadiums, fans screaming along to the chorus, finding collective catharsis in its raw emotion.

It’s too soon to tell if this single will match the chart-busting success of i like the way you kiss me, which topped Billboard’s Global 200 and reached #3 on the UK Official Singles Chart.

However, it undoubtedly has the potential to resonate just as deeply with listeners.

Yet focusing solely on charts and streams misses something crucial about this track.

There’s an almost unsettling quality to how Artemas exposes himself here. His raw vulnerability comes as a shock to the system.

Hearing someone openly question their own lovability offers a strange catharsis, accompanied by haunting melodies, giving it a delicious edge.

    Chorus
How could you love somebody like me?
Tryna be cold, but it’s making you weak
I couldn’t hurt somebody so sweet
But it’s turning me on just watching you leave

How could you love somebody like me? Ah
    Could you? Could you?
How could you love somebody like me?
    Could you? Could you?

    Verse
How could you love somebody like me?
    I’m not worthy (Worthy, worthy)
I haven’t touched your body in weeks
‘Cause I’m not worthy (Worthy, worthy)
And though you try, you could never fix me
    I know you wanna believe
I couldn’t hurt somebody so sweet
But, baby, won’t you rot with me? (Rot with me, rot with me)

    Pre-Chorus
I wanna feel good when I’m makin’ you scream
I wanna feel pretty, baby, can you teach me?
Don’t wanna be dramatic, but I swear if you lеave
    I’d be broken

    Chorus
How could you lovе somebody like me?
Tryna be cold, but it’s making you weak
I couldn’t hurt somebody so sweet
But it’s turning me on just watching you leave
How could you love somebody like me?
Tryna be cold, but it’s making you weak
I couldn’t hurt somebody so sweet
But it’s turning me on just watching you leave

    Bridge
    Ah, ah, ah (Could you?)
How could you? (Love somebody like me)
    Could you? Could you?

    Outro
How could you love somebody like me? (Ah)
    Could you? Could you?
How could you love somebody like me?
    Could you? Could you? (Ah)
