Erin Louise may be trying to take over the music industry, but in the meantime, she has already taken over my YouTube playlist. Scrolling through her Instagram with over 4000 followers, it sounded like a mini Christina Aguilera popped out of the screen when I heard her voice for the first time. Erin Louise may only be fifteen, but she is fearless, knows exactly she wants and has a passion for inspiring young people to believe in themselves. Do we have a new Beyoncé on the way?
2018 was an amazing year for music. Childish Gambino tried to open America’s eyes, Beyoncé revamped Coachella and at the end of the year we said ‘thank u, next’ to 2018. The new year is going to be incredible for music and Erin Louise will be contributing to that excellence.
“I’m planning on releasing my 1st EP. Also, I want to spend as much time in the studio working on my 1st album. In 2019 I really want to be regularly gigging across the UK. In the past, I have done this but not singing my own material. I am excited to see what 2019 brings.”
Erin Louise releases her 2nd single ‘Fine’ today although the track is definitely a lot more than just ‘fine’. It’s catchy, urban and managed to make me move while listening to it at 8 am (that takes some power).
“‘Fine’ is about feeling good and having the confidence with or without makeup and wearing different styles. It’s about not following the crowd but being an individual and still feeling good about yourself.”
Finally, an urban pop song that isn’t all about wealth! Thank you, Erin, for relating to every person who can’t afford designer brands. The lyrics show us we don’t need expensive items or makeup to look and feel good, very humble words coming from someone so young.
“Talk about Gucci this Gucci that, yeah right gimme something different.”
Although she’s only fifteen, Erin can hook you in as the lyrics are so relatable, she’s just keeping it real and that’s what I like about ‘Fine.’
“I like to write about things that I feel passionate about; whilst trying to include something inspirational or something that people can relate to.”
I think we all need to take a leaf out of Erin’s book…or even her songwriting book.
“Sometimes I randomly think of lyrics and write them down in my notes and then the lyrics just flow. Other times I prefer to go into the studio’ I like to base songs on situations I’ve been in, or situations people close to me have been; whilst changing it up a little. I like to write about things that I feel passionate about; whilst trying to include something inspirational or something that people can relate to.”
Needing more women in the music industry isn’t a secret, and with Erin being way beyond her years, we could see a new powerful female idol. When asked who she would like to play her in a movie she replied,
“Beyoncé. She was also a young driven, talented and inspirational singer, who never let anything stand in her way. I know she would understand where I am in my music career right now and where I want it to go.”
Maybe ‘Run The World (Girls)’ could be the movie soundtrack?

Walk me through your songwriting process
Sometimes I randomly think of lyrics and write them down in my notes and then the lyrics just flow. Other times I prefer to go into the studio and work with a backing track.
I like to base songs on situations I’ve been in, or situations people close to me have been; whilst changing it up a little. Also, I like to write about things that I feel passionate about; whilst trying to include something inspirational or something that people can relate to.
The harder I try at writing songs the harder it seems to be. So, I find it best for me to write things down as they come to me and work with them from that point.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I like to listen to motivational podcasts.
Can you tell me more about your work with the Courageous Kids Charity?
I was asked to be a Young Ambassador for Tappy Twins, that runs the Courageous Kids Awards. They do great work supporting young people that need help. I wanted to get involved as so many people my age are struggling with things all the time.

My proudest moment is making the move from singing covers for a few years to then writing and releasing my 1st song ‘No Fool’.
If you weren’t in music what would you be doing?
A dancer or modelling. I have danced since I was 2 years old.
What is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
There is no way I could live without music.
What song do you wish you had written and why?
‘Lifeboats’ by Jorja Smith, as it makes you think about the realities of life and what you can do to help make things better. I like to write and listen to songs that have a strong message. This song for me has a powerful message that makes you sit up and take notice of the flaws in people and society.
