It’s been three years since GOT7 – JAY B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom – last huddled together in a recording studio.

Now they’ve emerged with Python, a track that wraps around your mind like its namesake.

Released on January 20, 2025, it’s the lead single from Winter Heptagon, and proves these seven haven’t lost their bite.

Inside Python’s Coils: The Lyrics’ Hidden Bite

The song opens with JAY B and Jackson painting a vivid scene: “Rainbow roses, fancy ice / 녹아내려, inside your eyes.”

This dreamy imagery quickly gives way to a confession about letting one’s guard down – a rare moment of vulnerability from a group known for their confident swagger.

BamBam and Yugyeom deliver the earworm chorus: “I know I’m an icon, watch me with the lights on But she got a hold on me like a python”

Beneath the slick production lies a surprisingly raw admission – even icons can be wrapped around someone’s finger.

The python isn’t just a metaphor for love’s grip; it’s about the slow, inevitable surrender to feelings you can’t fight.

Snow and Shadows: The Python Music Video

Filmed against winter’s blank canvas, the music video plays a clever game of dark and light.

The seven members, dressed in black, create living art against the snow – their formations rippling like ink dropped in water.

The aerial shots are particularly cunning, transforming the group into human calligraphy against the white landscape.

Inside shots swap the frost for warm amber lighting, while outdoor sequences embrace winter’s bite.

It’s this temperature play that gives the video its edge – much like the song itself, it’s caught between heat and ice, surrender and resistance.

    The Sound That Strikes

Python begins like a lullaby before bearing its fangs. BamBam’s production fingerprints are all over this – trap beats and synths weave through the track like a snake through grass.

Each member brings their own venom to the mix: Mark’s laid-back flow, Jackson’s growl, Jinyoung’s velvet tone, Youngjae’s powerhouse notes, and Yugyeom’s R&B smoothness.

Mark and Jackson’s second verse cuts particularly deep: “I gave you my time when I didn’t have much All of my feelings swept under the rug I’m touring the world but I’m missing the one”

    The Minds Behind the Music

BamBam steps up as both writer and producer here, joined by collaborators Kyle Reynolds, JOOPEPE, Nick Lee, Jason Fox, and Symphony.

The arrangement, crafted with Jeong Seongmin (Psycho Tension), gives each member room to strike.

    Beyond the Comeback Formula

Python leads Winter Heptagon, an album where each member has left their mark.

The title itself is a clever nod – seven sides for seven members, wrapped in winter’s chill.

You’ll find BamBam’s Tidal Wave, Jackson’s Smooth, Youngjae’s Youth Drama, and more scattered through the tracklist.

Live performances kick off at Nestfest (Olympic Handball Gymnasium, Seoul, February 1-2, 2025), where fans can finally see these seven reunite on stage.

After three years apart, GOT7 proves some bonds can’t be broken – they just lie in wait, ready to strike when the moment’s right.

    GOT7 PYTHON Lyrics

    Verse 1: JAY B, Jackson
    Rainbow roses, fancy ice
    녹아내려, inside your eyes
    현실 같은 꿈의 site
    Feelings drifting like the tide

I left my guard down for a minute
I never play with feelings but I thought you were committed
The way that I’m addicted is specific
     (Specific)
    It’s your vibe, it’s your mind, it’s the things I can’t describe

    Pre-Chorus: Jinyoung
I’ve been running backwards, running backwards like a marathon
모든 순간 속에 네가 있어 제어할 수 없지
    날 길들인 감각만이 자꾸 멋대로
    No

    Chorus: BamBam, Yugyeom
I know I’m an icon, watch me with the lights on
But she got a hold on me like a python
I don’t wanna lose her, yeah, she was my future
Shot through the chest, I was falling for the shooter

I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna have to let hеr go
I should move on, I know
I know I’m an icon, 너 없인 다 lights off
But she got a hold on me likе a python

    Verse 2: Mark, Jackson
    (Yeah, yeah)
I gave you my time when I didn’t have much
All of my feelings swept under the rug
I’m touring the world but I’m missing the one
    Who held it down
Music is how I’ve been venting now
    Broken glass, I’m bleeding out
    Overseas, I’m selling out

    Private planes, I got taste
    I got seven golden rings
    My accountant called me up
Said the money’s stacked to space
What a snake, with them eyes
I won’t even try to lie
I wish I could let you go
I wish I could say goodbye

    Pre-Chorus: Jinyoung
I’ve been running backwards, running backwards like a marathon
모든 순간 속에 네가 있어 제어할 수 없지
    날 길들인 감각만이 자꾸 멋대로
    No

    Chorus: Youngjae, Yugyeom
I know I’m an icon, watch me with the lights on
But she got a hold on me like a python
I don’t wanna lose her, yeah, she was my future
Shot through the chest, I was falling for the shooter

I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna have to let her go
I should move on, I know
I know I’m an icon, 너 없인 다 lights off
But she got a hold on me like a python
