Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird‘Impressive PR By The Sea’ at the Alternative Escape is back for the 6th consecutive year, introducing a carefully curated line-up of renowned music artists. This year the headliners are 90’s Brit Pop legends My Life Story who will be performing songs from their upcoming album for the very first time. Other artists featured are emerging international performers: punk rap act Juiceboxxx (New York), alt-rock act Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird (Australia), electro-pop act The Magnettes (Sweden) & solo songstress Kroy (Canada).

There is a brand new venue this year – Door 77 formerly Bau Wau on East Street. In between each act, the award-winning music journalist, broadcaster and legendary DJ Simon Price will get behind the decks to entertain the music loving crowd.

    12.00-12.30: KROY
KROY is a talented singer-songwriter called Camille Poliquin. She takes influences from both trip-hop (Goldfrapp, Portishead) and modern pop (Vampire Weekend, Youth Lagoon). Kroy has performed throughout Canada and internationally, including in New York and Paris and at renowned US festival SXSW. Camille is also one half of Milk & Bone.

    12.50-13.20: THE MAGNETTES
The Magnettes are Sweden’s most exciting export with their own brand of electro-pop and riot grrrl punk. Their recent release ‘KIMNKANYE’ is one of many acclaimed hits and their single “Young & Wild” premiered on prime-time TV and became the 10th most played Swedish song on Swedish radio. in 2018 they opened up for Ke$ha and played the Golden Melody Awards (Asia’s equivalent to the Grammys) in front of 5,1 billion viewers. They have headlined, had a European tour, countless festivals and still have a Canadian tour to complete.

13.40-14.10: COUSIN TONY’S BRAND NEW FIREBIRD
Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird is an alternative indie pop band from Melbourne, Australia. With regular features on Triple J’s Unearthed radio and Spotify playlists as well as ‘Indie Arrivals’ playlists, and Apple Australia’s ‘Best of The Week’, the band have had millions of streams for their debut album. With an album scheduled for later this year, there can only be more critical acclaim for the five-piece band.

    14.30- 15.00: JUICEBOXXX
Juiceboxxx is a punk rap artist who grew up in the 2000s within the noise, punk rock, and underground rap of Wisconsin. He creates and curates The Boxxx Report: a bi-weekly newsletter focusing on new music, a radio show on London internet station NTS, a Spotify playlist and a vlog. Juiceboxxx also runs the label Thunder Zone, which has done everything from release vinyl and VHS, clothing, energy drinks and collaborates with artists including Lil Ugly Mane, Molly Soda, Odwalla1221 and members of the late art collective Paper Rad.
Music wise Juiceboxxx has toured with rap acts (Public Enemy, Fat Tony) to punk bands (Jeff The Brotherhood, Melt Banana).

    15.20- 16.00: MY LIFE STORY
My Life Story has had a string of top 40 hit singles and albums in the 1990s with their brand of epic, orchestral pop, leading many artists of the Britpop era to feature them on their records.
These days, the band is a popular, tight live act on the wave of the 90s revival, thanks to favourite singalongs including ’12 Reasons Why I Love Her’, ‘Strumpet’, ‘Sparkle’ and ‘The King of Kissingdom’. Taking a break from writing film and TV scores, Jake and the band recently crowd-funded their fourth studio album (the first album in nearly two decades), which is due for release on 2nd August 2019.
