Prime Video’s brutally brilliant animated series Invincible is powering up for its third season, with fresh faces joining the cast and some properly epic storylines on the horizon.

From new villains to family drama that’ll make your own holiday gatherings seem positively peaceful, here’s everything worth knowing about Season 3.

Mark your calendars for February 6th, 2025. The first three episodes will drop together, followed by weekly releases through March 13th.

And yes, Prime Video heard your collective groaning about Season 2’s mid-season break – there won’t be any unexpected pauses this time around.

    Invincible Season 3 Trailer

The first official trailer for Season 3 reveals a notably more powerful Mark Grayson, but also hints at growing tensions with the GDA.

Cecil Stedman delivers a chilling line that sets up the season’s central conflict: “We can be the good guys, or we can be the guys that save the world. We can’t be both.”

But that’s not all – the trailer drops several major bombshells. We get our first look at Oliver Grayson as Kid Omni-Man around the 0:48 mark, Dupli-Kate facing off against multiple heroes, and Mark sporting his new blue suit.

The footage suggests this season won’t pull any punches as it dives deeper into Robert Kirkman’s iconic story.

Invincible Voice Cast: A Stellar Lineup Gets Even Better

Steven Yeun returns as Mark Grayson/Invincible, with Sandra Oh and J.K. Simmons continuing their roles as television’s most complicated superhero family.

But it’s the new additions that really raise eyebrows:

    • Aaron Paul joins as Powerplex, a villain whose emotional baggage rivals his power level
    • Kate Mara plays Becky Duvall, who teams up with Powerplex against Invincible
    • Simu Liu voices Multi-Paul, an elite assassin working for the mysterious Order
    • Tzi Ma steps in as Mr. Liu, the ruthless leader of an international crime syndicate
    • Xolo Maridueña takes on the dual role of Fightmaster & Dropkick, freedom-fighting twins from a troubled future
    • John DiMaggio brings The Elephant to life – a serious villain who really, really wants everyone to stop eating meat
    • Christian Convery voices Oliver Grayson, Mark’s rapidly aging half-brother (turns out being half-Thraxan speeds up puberty quite a bit)
    • Jonathan Banks and Doug Bradley join in undisclosed roles that are being kept more secret than Cecil’s black ops missions

Additional returning cast includes Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve), Jason Mantzoukas (Rex Splode), Zazie Beetz (Amber Bennett), Zachary Quinto (Robot), and Seth Rogen (Allen the Alien).

Season 3 Plot: Bigger Stakes, Bigger Problems

The season picks up with Mark still reeling from his brutal battle with Angstrom Levy, where he killed his opponent in a berserker rage and found himself stranded in an alternate dimension until being rescued by a future version of the Guardians of the Globe.

This experience, combined with his crushing defeat by the Viltrumite Anissa and her subsequent report to General Kregg, sets up Earth as the next target for the Viltrumite Empire’s invasion.

Meanwhile, Atom Eve’s confession of feelings for Mark during his interdimensional exile adds another layer of complexity to their relationship – especially since Mark couldn’t admit his own feelings upon returning to the present.

This emotional turmoil will likely play a significant role in the upcoming season.

Creator Robert Kirkman isn’t mincing words about Season 3’s scope: “The stakes of the season are really high and the content of the season is really dense. We’ve set up a lot of stories in season 1 and season 2 that are kind of coming to a head in season three. In a lot of ways, every episode does kind of feel like a finale.”

Mark’s new blue suit isn’t just a fashion choice. According to Kirkman, “Anyone who has read the series knows the blue suit era is the darkest and the most intense. There’s a lot of really big things that are around the blue suit.”

    New Characters and Storylines

The Order emerges as a major player this season, with Mr. Liu’s criminal empire set to cause serious problems.

The introduction of future-hopping twins Fightmaster & Dropkick hints at timeline shenanigans, while Oliver Grayson’s accelerated aging promises to complicate the already messy Grayson family dynamics.

One of the season’s most intriguing new villains is Powerplex, whose origin story in the comics stems from Omni-Man’s devastating attack on Chicago.

His alliance with Becky Duvall adds a personal edge to the conflict, suggesting not all of Season 3’s battles will be purely physical.

The mysterious Ka-Hor, who made a brief appearance in Season 1, is also set to return, though his role remains unclear.

With Kirkman hoping to get eight or nine seasons to tell the full story, this ancient threat might be part of a longer game.

    Production and Future Plans

After the lengthy gap between Seasons 1 and 2, Kirkman has promised shorter waits between future seasons.

Season 4 is already greenlit, with plans potentially extending to seven or even ten seasons total.

The series continues to be co-produced by Skybound Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, with Kirkman, Seth Rogen, and various others returning as executive producers.

Where to Watch Invincible Season 3

Invincible Season 3 remains exclusive to Prime Video. For newcomers, now’s the perfect time to catch up on the first two seasons – just maybe don’t watch the train scene right before dinner.

Between the new cast additions, complex storylines, and promises of even more spectacular animation, Season 3 is shaping up to be Invincible’s biggest outing yet.

Given this show’s history of topping itself in both scale and emotional impact, that’s saying something. February 6th can’t come soon enough.
