North London’s MOBO nominee JBEE breaks his year-long silence with Deja Vu, mixing drill’s sharp edges with melodic UK rap finesse. Mind you, this isn’t your standard comeback track.

Over an eerily atmospheric beat, JBEE spins tales of potential platinum records left behind (“turned ghost when I could’ve went platinum”) and dreams of Rolls-Royces.

But scratch beneath the luxury car namedrops and you’ll find something more nuanced – a rapper wrestling with success, authenticity, and mental health.

The production pulls a neat trick: it’s simultaneously unsettling and oddly uplifting.

JBEE’s flow switches between rapid-fire verses and melodic hooks, while bars about dodging the “evil eye” and keeping goals private reveal an artist who’s learned to play his cards close to his chest.

For all its polished edges, Deja Vu stands out by having a rawness that makes it relatable.

When JBEE raps “My mental state’s on a deep decline,” it cuts through the typical bravado of the genre.

This marks his first step toward what promises to be an ambitious 2025.

    JBEE Deja Vu Lyrics

    I turned ghost
    When I could’ve went platinum
So I’m putting in work all year
Can’t wait till I cop me the double r phantom
G63 for my home girl too
And a lambo truck for gangnem
    Free bro off the landing
When I’m done with the jugg
I’ll be sat by the beach with a 10
    While pour me magnum

F*ck being broke on the block
So I’m stuck in the booth
    Tryna find me a way
Before rap I never went Gatwick
So I soon take trips on a private J
I told a hoe from the block bruk
    But I lied I’m paid
Wanna know if she love me for me
Had me stuck in a talking stage
    Tryna hide I’m bait

    I’m going through loads
I pray that I make it through
And this shits way deeper than rap
More time it’s a picture I’m painting too
And these hoes ain’t got my back
Atleast I know, I know my homies do
And I feel like I’ve been here before
    Yh, yh Deja Vu

    I’m going through loads
I pray that I make it through
And this shits way deeper than rap
More time it’s a picture I’m painting too
And these hoes ain’t got my back
Atleast I know, I know my homies do
And I feel like I’ve been here before
    Yh, yh Deja Vu

I hate being open I’m hiding my pain
    But them 20s and 50s
    Wrap in elastic bands
    Might keep me sane
I need a GMT, all black maybach
    And a VV chain
But dream way further than that
I’ve been ducking from evil eye
So I keep to myself all my goals and aims

    Marj thinks I’ve changed
My mental states on a deep decline
I wish talk to the fam
But the papes in my acc
    Got me beefing mine
    See I know I ain’t good
But I find it easier saying I’m fine
    Fuck opening up
They’ll use it against you one at a time

    I’m going through loads
I pray that I make it through
And this shits way deeper than rap
More time it’s a picture I’m painting too
And these hoes ain’t got my back
Atleast I know, I know my homies do
And I feel like I’ve been here before
    Yh, yh Deja Vu
