A room full of comics, one rule that turns grins into red cards. Ten people try not to laugh while doing everything they can to make everyone else lose it.

Our take: it is silly, tense, and very watchable, with Bob Mortimer as the first run’s standout.

    Need-to-know facts

    • What is it? Ten comics try to make each other laugh without laughing. Two strikes and you’re out. Host Jimmy Carr; deputy Roisin Conaty.
    • Where to watch: Prime Video in the UK.
    • Last one laughing S2 release window: Filming in 2025, launches 2026 in the UK.
    • Last one laughing S2 timing and cast(Official): filming in 2025, launches in 2026, cast confirmed by Prime Video.
    • Last one laughing S1 dates and winner: launched 20 March 2025, concluded 27 March 2025; winner Bob Mortimer.

    What it is

Ten comedians try to make each other crack while keeping a straight face. Laugh and you take a card. Two cards and you’re out. Jimmy Carr hosts with Roisin Conaty as deputy.

The format descends from Japan’s Documental, created by Hitoshi Matsumoto, which explains the poker-face brinkmanship and the quick pivots between daft set-pieces and surprising silence.

    Season 2 at a glance

Prime Video confirms filming in 2025 and a 2026 launch. The official cast:

    • David Mitchell
    • Diane Morgan
    • Romesh Ranganathan
    • Amy Gledhill
    • Maisie Adam
    • Mel Giedroyc
    • Alan Carr
    • Gbemisola Ikumelo
    • Sam Campbell
    • Bob Mortimer (returning)

How to watch in the UK

Stream on Prime Video. The series page is live for Season 1, included with a Prime membership.

    Season 1 in brief

Episodes arrived on 20 March 2025, with the finale a week later on 27 March.

Mortimer won, outlasting a line-up that included Daisy May Cooper, Joe Lycett, Judi Love, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Joe Wilkinson, Harriet Kemsley, and Richard Ayoade.

    Does it work?

Stuart Heritage called it “a total hoot,” and singled out Mortimer’s recycled bits as proof that old material can still floor a room when the rules are this simple.

He also noted the odd thrill in watching comics fight an involuntary reaction.

Viewer chatter has praised the warmth between comics and the final stretch, with recurring calls for a slightly tighter endgame.

That mix of glee and nitpicking has kept the Reddit threads busy since launch.

    The sound of the room

There’s no official soundtrack release, though the theme and walk-on cues were composed by Molecular Sound.

If you want a Mortimer-adjacent cue while you read, this older studio cut featuring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer does the job.
