A Battle of Wits Inside a Mechanical Cage

Imagine stepping into what looks like an abandoned luxury SUV, only to realise it’s the setting for your worst nightmare.

    Locked (2025)

Locked (2025), the upcoming horror-thriller starring Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgård, takes claustrophobic terror to another level.

Directed by David Yarovesky and produced by legendary horror film maker, Sam Raimi, this remake of the 2019 Argentinian film 4×4 swaps a simple car theft for a game of psychological warfare where justice is doled out by a high-tech trap.

Locked Trailer: A Glimpse into Madness

The Locked trailer introduces Skarsgård’s Eddie, a small-time thief looking for an easy score.

He breaks into what he thinks is an unattended, unlocked vehicle, but the doors suddenly seal shut.

A voice crackles over the speakers – it’s Hopkins’ character, William, who informs Eddie that he’s just made the biggest mistake of his life.

What follows is a blend of psychological torment, high-tech sadism, and a series of deadly “lessons” designed to test Eddie’s endurance.

The trailer showcases Hopkins at his menacing best, delivering lines with an icy detachment that harks back to his iconic Silence of the Lambs performance.

Meanwhile, Skarsgård’s raw desperation and sheer physicality make it clear that Locked is more than just a thriller—it’s a test of survival.

Who’s in the Locked Movie Cast?

This two-hander pits two acting powerhouses against each other:

    • Anthony Hopkins as William – A wealthy yet vengeful man who uses his modified SUV as a tool of retribution.
    • Bill Skarsgård as Eddie Barrish – A thief who finds himself the unwilling participant in William’s game of “justice.”
    • Ashley Cartwright and Navid Charkhi also feature in supporting roles, though their characters remain shrouded in mystery.

Locked Movie Release Date: When Can You Watch It?

Mark your calendars—Locked is set to hit cinemas on 21 March 2025.

Distributed by The Avenue, the film has already garnered attention following its preview at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival’s Industry Selects program.

Why Locked Might Be One of 2025’s Most Talked-About Thrillers

The premise of Locked plays into some of horror’s most unnerving themes: confinement, power imbalance, and the sheer terror of not being in control.

But it’s the unique combination of Hopkins’ signature chilling presence and Skarsgård’s ability to embody sheer panic that elevates the film’s appeal.

Unlike traditional horror that relies on supernatural elements or jump scares, Locked thrives on slow-burning tension.

The high-tech nature of William’s vehicle adds a Black Mirror-esque twist to the psychological torment.

It’s not just about being physically trapped; it’s about how technology can be wielded as a tool for calculated vengeance.

    Is Locked Worth Your Time?

If you’re a fan of high-concept thrillers with powerhouse performances, Locked is shaping up to be a must-watch.

It’s a film where a luxury SUV transforms into a mechanical prison, a thief becomes a pawn, and Anthony Hopkins reminds us why he remains one of cinema’s most terrifying presences.

With Locked, director David Yarovesky takes a simple concept—a car thief trapped in his own crime—and elevates it into a psychological chess match where the stakes are life and death.

If the trailer is any indication, we’re in for a twisted, tension-filled ride that won’t let up until the credits roll.
