SAN’s the fall plunges into the depths of modern heartbreak through a haze of psychedelic R&B.

The Ukrainian-Canadian artist crafts a universe where glitter fades and golden moments slip away, backed by cloud-wrapped production and electronic pulses.

This debut single from his upcoming album marks a bold artistic statement, merging personal narrative with experimental sound design.

Desiree Dawson’s vocals intertwine with SAN’s introspective delivery, creating an intimate dialogue about uncertainty.

Their exchange of “If you wanna stay” becomes increasingly poignant as the track progresses, while references to The Outsiders Nothing gold can stay position the song within a larger narrative about youth and loss.

The chemistry between their voices adds layers to the story, especially when Dawson questions “could I ever grow,” met by SAN’s haunting response about the possibilities that disappear with each goodbye.

The Port Moody-shot music video, directed by Lula-Belle Jedynak and enhanced by Niall Proctor’s storybook VFX, mirrors the song’s themes of chemical alterations and spatial displacement.

It’s a visual echo of lyrics like “Dance behind my eyes” and “Floating with the tides,” where love’s ending feels like drifting through space.

Proctor, known for his work with Trippie Redd and Peach Pit, brings papery textures and nostalgic elements that transform familiar Port Moody locations into dreamlike spaces.

Written during fall 2024, this debut single captures those moments when relationships hover between hope and acceptance.

SAN and Dawson’s harmonies create an intimate dialogue about the space between staying and walking away, leaving listeners floating in that uncertain territory where endings become beginnings.

    San the fall Lyrics

    Falling x12

    If you wanna stay
    If you wanna say (falling)
If you wanna stay, could I ever grow
    If you wanna stay
    If you wanna stay
    If you wanna stay

    SAN & Desiree Dawson
    If you wanna stay,
    would I ever grow
    would it ever show
    would we ever know

    falling, falling
    san? san?

    I’m all in, you’re (falling)
    I’m calling, it means nothing
(if you wanna stay) will we ever know
If you walk away, we won’t ever know
If you wanna stay, would I ever grow
If you walk away, we won’t ever know

    we won’t ever know

Tabs of LSD, then the glitter goes
Crazy in my rays, like the sun shines
Every single day, when I’m with you
Watching things I say, like I’m nervous
Nothing gold can stay, like I’m Ponyboy
    Nothing gold can stay

    falling, falling
    falling, falling

    I’m all in, you’re (falling)
    I’m calling, it means nothing
(if you wanna stay) will we ever know
If you walk away, we won’t ever know
If you wanna stay, would I ever grow
If you walk away, we won’t ever know
    we won’t ever know

Dance behind my eyes, when I fall asleep
Falling through the sky, I’m a space man
Floating with the tides, when she look at me
Gripping on my ice, when I ask you
[if you wanna stay] but I know you don’t
If you wanna stay, but we know you won’t
    But we know you won’t
    I’m falling, you’re fallen

    this feels surreal
    nothing gold can stay
    nothing gold can stay
