    Seyi Vibez is a Nigerian singer and songwriter making waves in the Afro-fusion scene with his catchy songs and unique style. He is best known for his hit single “Chance (Na Ham)” from his second studio album, Billion Dollar Baby, which debuted at No. 19 on the UK Afrobeats singles chart and peaked at No. 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart.

    Early Life and Career

    Seyi Vibez was born Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi on July 12, 1991, in Ketu, Lagos State, where he spent his early life before moving to Ikorodu, Lagos State, where he grew up. He started his musical journey as a songwriter before becoming a singer in 2019 with his debut single “Anybody“.

    He gained popularity in 2021 with the release of his single “Godsent“, which showcased his soulful vocals and inspirational lyrics.

    He followed it up with his debut studio album, No Seyi No Vibez (NSNV), which featured songs like “Big Vibe”, “Bad Type”, and “90’s”.

    In 2022, he released his second studio album, Billion Dollar Baby, which cemented his status as one of the rising stars of the Afro-fusion genre. The album contained songs like “Chance (Na Ham)”, “Alaska”, “IQ”, and “Para Boi”. He also collaborated with other artists like Kizz Daniel, Zlatan, Lyta, and Buju on various tracks.

    In 2023, he dropped his first extended play (EP) titled Memory Card, which consisted of five tracks with a guest feature from American rapper YXNG K.A. The EP received rave reviews from critics and fans alike and garnered over 6.30 million streams in its first week. Four tracks from the EP dominated the TurnTable top 10 chart, and the EP was listed by Pan African Music as one of the 10 best albums of January 2023.

    Musical Style and Influences

    Seyi Vibez describes his musical style as Afro-fusion, a blend of Afrobeat, pop, R&B, soul, and Fuji. He cites Fela Kuti, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Asa as some of his musical influences. He is also known for his versatility and ability to switch between different genres and languages.

    He writes most of his songs himself and draws inspiration from his personal experiences, social issues, and spirituality. He often sings about love, hustle, faith, and gratitude in his songs. He also infuses humour, slang, and proverbs into his lyrics to connect with his audience.

    Seyi Vibez has received several awards and nominations for his music and achievements. Some of them are:

    • Best New Act at the Soundcity MVP Awards in 2022
    • Next Rated at the Headies Awards in 2022
    • Best Male Artist at the African Entertainment Awards USA in 2022
    • Best Collaboration for “Let There Be Light” with Zlatan at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2023
    • Breakthrough Act at the MOBO Awards in 2023
