Spider-Man fans, rejoice! The web-slinger is not done with the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet.

After the mind-blowing events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker team up with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of the hero, many wondered what the future holds for the friendly neighbourhood superhero.

Well, wonder no more, because Spider-Man 4 is officially in the works at Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, and we have all the details you need to know about the next Spiderman movie.

Spider-Man 4 Release Date: When will it hit theatres?

The first question on everyone’s mind is: when will we see Spider-Man 4 on the big screen?

Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to that yet, as the movie is still in early development and has not been given a release date.

However, we can make some educated guesses based on the previous Spider-Man movies and the current MCU slate.

The first three Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland were released in 2017, 2019, and 2021, respectively, with a two-year gap between each installment.

However, we don’t think that pattern will continue for Spider-Man 4, as 2023 already has two Sony movies set in the Spider-Verse: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on June 2 and Madame Web on October 6.

It seems unlikely that Sony would release three Spider-Man movies in one year, especially since Marvel Studios also has four MCU movies scheduled for 2023: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on February 17, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, Fantastic Four on July 28, and Deadpool 3 on November 10.

Therefore, we think that Spider-Man 4 will most likely come out in 2024 or later.

One possible date that has been rumoured is June 7, 2024, which is currently reserved for an untitled Marvel project by Sony.

This could be Spider-Man 4, but this would place the film one month after Captain America: New World Order and one month before Thunderbolts, two MCU movies that could potentially feature Spider-Man or his allies and enemies.

However, this is just speculation at this point, and nothing has been confirmed by either studio.

Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon in Spider Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man 4 Cast: Who will return and who will join?

The next question is: who will be in Spider-Man 4? The most obvious answer is Tom Holland, who has played Peter Parker/Spider-Man since his debut in Captain America: Civil War in 2016.

Holland has expressed mixed feelings about his future as Spider-Man, saying that he might want to move on after No Way Home and would feel too old to play the character after turning 30.

However, he also said that he loves playing Spider-Man and would be open to returning if Marvel and Sony had a good story for him.

It seems that Marvel and Sony do have a good story for him, as both Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal have confirmed that Tom Holland will reprise his role as Spider-Man in a new trilogy of movies.

Feige said that they have big ideas for Spider-Man 4 and that their writers are just putting pen to paper now. Pascal says they are thinking of this as the next three movies after the first three.

So it looks like Holland is not hanging up his suit anytime soon.

As for the rest of the cast, we can expect some familiar faces to return.

Zendaya will likely return as MJ, Peter’s love interest, who learned his secret identity in No Way Home.

Jacob Batalon will probably reprise his role as Ned Leeds, Peter’s best friend who discovered his secret and became a sorcerer’s apprentice in No Way Home.

Marisa Tomei can possibly return as Aunt May, Peter’s aunt who died in No Way Home after being stabbed by the Green Goblin.

Jon Favreau could return as Happy Hogan, Tony Stark’s former bodyguard who was romantically involved with Aunt May and helped Peter with his tech.

Benedict Cumberbatch might appear as Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme who helped Peter with his multiverse problems in No Way Home.

As for new additions to the cast, there are many possibilities. One of them is Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, who was teased at the end of No Way Home when he was transported to the MCU by the spell that brought other Spider-Man villains from different universes. Hardy has expressed his desire to face off with Holland’s Spider-Man.

The mid-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage hinted at a possible crossover. However, the details of how and when that will happen are still unclear.

Another potential new cast member is Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, who made a surprise cameo in No Way Home as Peter’s lawyer.

Cox played the character in the Netflix series Daredevil, set in the same universe as the MCU but had little connection to it.

Fans have been hoping for Cox to reprise his role in the MCU ever since the show got cancelled, and No Way Home delivered on that wish.

However, it remains to be seen, if he will have a bigger role in Spider-Man 4 or any other MCU project.

Other possible new cast members could include characters from other Spider-Man movies or shows, such as Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Silk, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man 2099, or any of the Sinister Six members.

The multiverse is wide open after No Way Home, so anything is possible.

Spider-Man 4 Plot: What will it be about?

The plot of Spider-Man 4 is also a mystery at this point, as Marvel and Sony have not revealed any official synopsis or details.

However, we can make some educated guesses based on the ending of No Way Home and the comics.

No Way Home ended with Peter deciding to make everyone forget that he is Spider-Man, including his friends and loved ones, to reverse the damage caused by Doctor Strange’s spell and save the multiverse from collapsing.

He also moved out of Aunt May’s apartment and into a small flat, where he made a new suit inspired by the classic comics.

He also decided to leave MJ and Ned alone, as they got into MIT without his help and seemed happy without him.

Spider-Man 4 could explore how Peter deals with his new life as a solo hero without any support from his friends, family, or mentors.

He could also face new threats from villains who don’t know his identity but still want to harm him or the city.

He could also encounter Venom, who might be hunting him down after sensing his presence in the MCU.

He could also meet Daredevil again, who might offer legal or moral advice.

He could also cross paths with other heroes or villains from different universes who might have been affected by Doctor Strange’s spell.

Spider-Man 4 could also adapt some comic book stories that fit with this scenario, such as Kraven’s Last Hunt, where Spider-Man, is hunted by a ruthless mercenary; Back in Black, where Spider-Man wears a black suit and becomes more violent after Aunt May is shot; One More Day, where Spider-Man makes a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May’s life but loses his marriage to MJ; or Superior Spider-Man, where Doctor Octopus swaps bodies with Spider-Man and tries to be a better hero than him.

Of course, these are just speculations and possibilities, and Marvel and Sony could have something completely different in mind for Spider-Man 4. Whatever it is, we can’t wait to see it.

Spider-Man 4 Soundtrack: Will it have a hit song like Sunflower?

Another aspect of Spider-Man 4 that fans are curious about is the soundtrack.

The previous Spider-Man movies have featured some memorable songs that captured the mood and tone of the stories, such as Left Hand Free by Alt-J in Homecoming, I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston in Far From Home, and What’s Up Danger by Blackway and Black Caviar in No Way Home.

However, none of them have reached the level of popularity and acclaim that Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee did in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Sunflower was written specifically for the animated movie, which featured Miles Morales as the main protagonist.

The song was a huge hit, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and winning several awards, including a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media.

The song also perfectly matched the style and vibe of the movie, which blended hip-hop, pop, and comic book aesthetics.

Will Spider-Man 4 have a song like Sunflower that will become a smash hit and a fan favourite?

It’s hard to say, as it depends on many factors, such as the genre, the artists, the lyrics, and the timing.

However, we can hope that Marvel and Sony will choose some talented musicians to create original songs for Spider-Man 4 that will enhance the experience of watching the movie and resonate with the audience.

Maybe they will even collaborate with some of the artists who contributed to the previous Spider-Man soundtracks, such as Nicki Minaj, Juice WRLD, Aminé, or Jaden Smith.

Or maybe they will introduce some new voices that will surprise and delight us. We’ll have to wait and see.

Spider-Man 4 Trailer: When will we see it?

The last question is: when will we see the first trailer for Spider-Man 4?

Again, there is no definitive answer to that yet, as the movie is still in early development and has not started filming.

However, we can make some educated guesses based on the previous Spider-Man movies and the current MCU slate.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming was released on December 8, 2016, six months before its release date of July 7, 2017.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home was released on January 15, 2019, five months before its release date of July 2, 2019.

The first trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home was released on August 23, 2021, four months before its release date of December 17, 2021.

Based on this pattern, we can expect the first trailer for Spider-Man 4 to be released around four to six months before its release date, whenever that is.

If the movie comes out in June 2024, as some have speculated, then we might see the first trailer in December 2023 or January 2024.

However, this is just an estimation and could change depending on the production schedule and the marketing strategies of Marvel and Sony.
