Canadian musician Tim Baker is everything you want to see from an acoustic set in a Jazz bar basement in Dalston on a Tuesday night – pure talent & charm.
The former lead singer from renowned indie-rock Canadian band Hey Rosetta! has released more solo material this year and is currently touring the UK & Europe. Now Baker releases The Side Door Sessions EP which was recorded live in intimate, non-venue spaces during the winter of 2018.
Baker’s debut critically acclaimed solo album ‘Forever Overhead’ was released early 2019, which was followed by a solo single and EP ‘The Eighteenth Hole’ in October last year.
When talking about the single of the same name – Billboard has described the track as “Nostalgic and nuanced, with a chorus that nods to Jackson Browne and a buoyant, with a bubbling verse worthy of Feist“.
The music video was shot in Newfoundland by Adrian Vieni and Amos Le Blanc. Outlining the fractures that can happen in love-torn relationships. The director duo arrived in Newfoundland and shot completely unscripted until they found their narrative, using photographic inspiration from Terrence Malick and some of Baker’s own sketches.
Baker’s gig at the Servant Jazz Quarters was sold out – with genuine warmth and endearing energy coming from the crowd. Even when Baker plays his songs wrong, he’ll stop and tell you he did – and gets away with it due to his smooth speaking voice and classic rock star persona.
Gigs are booked in Cardiff, Bristol & Brighton Jan 29th through Feb 2nd. After this, he’s heading back out to Europe to do 22 dates with key stops in cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Stockholm & Berlin.
