‘5AM’ is the latest track to add to your must-have summer playlist. The brand new electro-pop / EDM track featuring glittering synth stabs and sultry vocals just screams chilled summer days. DJ / producer LOCA is the alter ego of Dutch international football star Jürgen Locadia and current striker with Premiership club Brighton & Hove Albion.

LOCA says of his new release, “The record reflects a new time in my life, it’s a fresh start and a new sound that I’m creating. It’s the perfect beginning from the new era, the new LOCA.”

Along with football, music is a passion for LOCA who is influenced by a multitude of genres from house, techno, hip-hop to soul and funk. His debut EP ‘Purple Art’ was released last year and drew many fans as well as tastemaker blogs and BBC 1Xtra.

We caught up with LOCA to find out more about his new release, how he combines his two careers, musical influences and more.

Tell me about your new track ‘5 AM’?
‘5 AM’ is about love. And willing to do everything for your love. The person in the song is chasing their love basically.

How did you get into music?
Well I started about 3 years ago with my friends. They were into music production already. I just rolled in and took a liking it. Everyday you learn new stuff and everyday is another beat.

Which artists would you like to work with?
I think Diplo and DJ Snake are taking over. I like the hip-hop and dance fusion that they are making now.

How do you find the time between football training and creating music?
Well, we practice in the morning…so I get enough time afterwards. Sometimes I feel like producing, sometimes I feel like chilling. It all depends on my daily mood.

Which artists would you like to work with?
I would love to work with Diplo as a producer. Artist wise I would choose Adele or Justin Bieber. I like Zayn also.

What are your dream venues/festivals to perform at?
Tomorrowland is the goal. Coachella is the dream venue.

Did you have the visuals in mind when you created 5AM?
Well kinda, I hoped to interpret how you would do anything for your loved ones. Hopefully, you will see that in the video.

What kind of music influenced you growing up?
I grew up with Chris Brown. He was at his prime at that moment. So I listened a lot to of his music.

What TV series / film would you love for 5AM to be played in?
    – I think ‘5 AM’ would be the perfect ending track for a movie or TV series. But i don’t know which one at the moment.

Who or what is inspiring you at the moment?
I think the DJ snake – ‘Let Me Love You’ track with Justin Bieber. Lets hope my song will have the same effect. haha.

    What’s next for LOCA?
I made some new tunes in LA. However, the focus is currently on ‘5 AM’. And after that, we got some big tunes coming.
