The newly dropped We Were Liars teaser trailer hints at the series’ emotional and psychological undercurrents, showing glimpses of Cadence Sinclair Eastman (played by Emily Alyn Lind) and her close-knit circle known as “the Liars” as they navigate summer life on their wealthy grandfather’s New England private island.

The official synopsis of We Were Liars reveals a tightly woven mystery: beneath the family’s polished, privileged surface, Cadence’s world fractures after a traumatic accident leaves her with gaps in memory.

As she tries to piece together what happened, the show unravels the hidden tensions, secrets, and betrayals between the Liars and the larger Sinclair family.

The We Were Liars series is led by showrunners Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, Legacies) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals), with production by Universal Television and Amazon MGM Studios.

Alongside Emily Alyn Lind, the We Were Liars cast includes Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis, Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, and Candice King as Bess Sinclair.

The teaser trailer, paired with Holly Humberstone’s haunting track “Falling Asleep at the Wheel,” offers a first taste of the atmospheric tension viewers can expect.

Moments of carefree teenage summer bliss are laced with darker undertones, hinting that something terrible lurks beneath the surface.

Cadence’s narration — “Something terrible happened last summer… and no one will tell me what” — sets the mood for a gripping psychological thriller.

Fans eager for the We Were Liars show won’t have to wait long: all eight episodes are scheduled to premiere on June 18, 2025, exclusively on Prime Video, reaching audiences in over 240 countries and territories.

For those new to the story, the We Were Liars series promises an exploration of privilege, memory, and grief, blending romance and suspense with a coming-of-age edge.

The series is positioned to become a standout title in Prime Video’s 2025 lineup.

Stay tuned as more updates, trailers, and behind-the-scenes looks emerge — and get ready to dive into the twisting world of the Sinclairs and their secrets.
